Small Businesses – the most important enterprises

2/1/2017

If you ask me – Solopreneurs and the Business owners that starts to hire people for the first recruitment and expanding their businesses – are the most important for growth. In my case it is very easy to remember Volvo and IKEA as the micro enterprises they were – “some years ago” as well as Lindvalls Kaffe (Coffee of Family Lindvall – a local coffee roastery since 1891). They all started based on one individuals idea about a business and a business model. Since the start it has been changed many times – but change and development are key-factors in running a business.

Picture
Some have a very clear plan from start to expansion and growth and others just finds themselves in a billion dollar company after some years or decades. But no matter what, it is the spirit of Entrepreneurs and individuals with ideas and endurance to make them come through that counts.
In almost every country in the world the small enterprises are mentioned as an important part of the wealth and a base for the sustainable life of all citizens. But in spite of that – almost all countries form their rules and regulations based on the large enterprises situation. How come?
I think one reason is the fact that the small enterprises are more or less invisible in media and that it really doesnt matter if one single small enterprise starts or closes. If one big company with several hundreds of employees are shutting down a branch or are out of market it is on the first page and in the evening news – but the others – nothing.
What can we do to change the awareness of this? There are many individuals and organisations fighting out there – and let us do what we can to support them. ESBA – European Small Business Alliance and UEAPME “The voice of SMEs in Europe” are two of them.

SME Academy is focusing on the knowledge FOR and ABOUT the SMEs – and we have in or definition of SMEs focused on Solo and Micro as they in most countries are more than 90% of all the companies.
